Stars of the Estonian Nature 2023

-

Get to know the stars of 2022 in Estonian nature!

Among those chosen are species commonly found in our nature as well as rare species that need protection. The title bearers will be in the spotlight throughout the year, so there is plenty time to get to know them. Help gather information about this year’s stars – the contribution of nature lovers and hobbyists has always been significant in the subsequent research and protection of all species.

The first star of the year was chosen from Estonian birds in 1995 – the corn crake. Next year, a tree was added. The list of stars began to expand in the last decade – the orchid, mammal, butterfly, soil, moss and fungus of the year were added. The last category added in 2019 was fish. Anyone who remembers everything written about the past stars of the year can consider themselves a naturalist.
