Recruitment and Competitions

Competitions for filling positions at the museum are managed by the director of the Estonian Natural History Museum and a specialist from the Ministry of Climate’s HR department. Open competitions are announced on the museum’s website and relevant portals. The museum reserves the right to cancel or modify a competition. In such cases, candidates will be informed through the contact details provided.

The recruitment process may include two or three rounds, depending on the position: a document review, a written test, and an interview. Museum staff may be involved in evaluating candidates.

The museum may gather additional information about candidates from public sources, and candidates have the right to review this information and provide explanations or objections.

Candidates are expected to ensure that their referees have consented to being contacted by the museum for reference purposes.

The position is offered to the candidate whose education, experience, and skills best match the job requirements. If multiple candidates meet the criteria, they may be ranked accordingly.

All candidates will be informed of the competition results as soon as possible.

The documents collected during the recruitment process are retained for the following purposes:

  • To offer the position to the next candidate in the ranking, if necessary.
  • With the candidate’s consent, to propose participation in future competitions.

Candidate data is considered restricted-access information and may only be disclosed to third parties as required by law.
