Mushroom exhibition 60
-
As is tradition, the courtyard of the Estonian Museum of Natural History will once again be filled with mushrooms and mushroom enthusiasts. This year the event is a little bit more festive, since it already the 60th time that such an exhibition will take place!
The first mushroom exhibition took place in our museum already in 1946. So, with some gap years, it happens so that this year we are celebrating the 60th birthday of mushroom exhibitions. This year, in addition to admiring all the wonderful mushrooms that can be found in the Estonian forest, the mushroom enthusiast can take a look behind the scenes of organizing such exhibitions. With the help of the museum audioguide one can listen to memories of old-timers and current organizers about the work that goes into an exhibition that is only on display for a handful of days.
As usual the display in the museum courtyard reflects the current mushroom year.
At the exhibition one can view the mushroom species that the museum workes have found and picked from the forest. Thus, the displayed mushrooms depict an accurate picture of the current mushroom year,“
says the exhibition curator Marja-Liisa Kämärä.
